Human Services Eligibility Specialist/Technician- Bilingual (Spanish)

The Logan County Department of Human Services is seeking an Eligibility Specialist/Technician to perform a variety of entry level complex clerical duties as needed to expedite the processing of applications, determination of eligibility and the delivery of Human service assistance for English and Spanish speaking clients. Performs routine eligibility determinations and participates in the coordinating of direct services to qualified and approved clients. May be assigned as support staff to one or more specialty programs, i.e., Assistance Programs, Adult Programs/Fraud, Child Support Enforcement, or Self-Sufficiency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1.    Education and Experience:

       A.    Graduation from high school with course background in offices practices preferred;
              AND
       B.    One (1) year of experience performing above or related duties;
              OR
       C.    Equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

2.    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

       Some knowledge of bookkeeping; advanced clerical tasks related to filing, indexing, and record keeping; personal computer operation and various software applications used for word processing and spreadsheet analysis; community resources available for service as alternatives to the county; public relations and interpersonal communications skills; general methods of conflict resolution and stress management.

Skill in interpersonal communication and telephone etiquette. Bilingual skills both in written and spoken format.

Ability to plan and organize work independently; make mathematical calculations quickly and accurately; operate a variety of standard office machines; maintain objectivity in decision making while considering complicated and emotional situations; establish and maintain effective working relationships with State, Federal and Local organizations who provide similar services.

3.    Special Qualifications:

       Type 50 wpm.
       Must be able to operate personal computer.
       Must be able to speak and write both English and Spanish languages fluently.

       Hourly wage:  $17.1399 per hour plus benefits to include: Health, Dental, Vision, and Disability Insurance; Retirement; Paid time off (PTO).

Human Services Technician for Adult Programs

Full Time position responsible for establishing eligibility for receipt of public assistance through Adult programs such as Adult Financial (OAP,AND, SSI/CS, Home Care), Long Term Care, Medicaid, Medicare Savings Program, LEAP and Food Stamps.  Interprets rules and regulations of all program areas and inputs approvals, denials, and changes to cases.  Facilitates / coordinates the processes and procedures necessary to provide clients with assistance.  Performs calculations and accounting functions necessary to determine eligibility, establish benefits, and re-determines ongoing eligibility.

Requires a HS diploma/GED.  Strong computer skills necessary.

Entry Hourly Wage:  $17.1399 per hour plus benefits to include:  Health, Dental, Vision, Disability Insurance; Retirement; Paid time off (PTO).

SOLID WASTE DEPARTMENT

Landfill Operator I

Logan County is seeking an individual to perform working level and skilled tasks in the operation and maintenance of the county landfill using heavy duty equipment and vehicles; responds to requests and concerns from the public; monitors loads and reclaimed areas to meet state and federal permits.  Checks and services assigned equipment; performs routine maintenance and emergency repairs; general maintenance of vehicles and equipment.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

      •    High school diploma or GED.

                                              AND

    One (1) year of experience in operation and maintenance of medium and heavy sized equipment

                                       OR

    An equivalent combination of education and experience
Special Qualifications:


1 Must possess a valid Colorado Class “A or B" Drivers License.

 

2 May need to attend in-house and satellite training sessions that may last up to four days.

 

3.   Must be able to comply with applicable county and departmental policies and safety standards and wear required personal protective equipment.

Road and Bridge Department

Truck Driver

Logan County is seeking an individual to perform skilled duties associated with the operation of trucks and repair, maintenance and construction of County roads, bridges and right-of-ways; may operate light to medium equipment incidental to the work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • AND
  • Two (2) years of experience in performing above related duties.
  • OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid State of Colorado Class A, CDL driver's license. 
  • Must be flagger certified.
